Hanan and hurin : within each of these 2 groups, you have 5 panaqas. People who were living in the cuzco area before inca came. Lower nobility: all the obility who were not inca. Conquered: the lowest in this pyramid and did not have much of the rights. Number of things that sapa incas did over time to try to ease the stress, however was not successful. In reality, to become elected and maintain in power, they needed support from the panaqs. The mummies from the sapa incas continue to live and stay in power. The mummies will stay in their palaces in cuszo or be taken to their residential estates. Whenevrr there are ceremonies, they are treated as real people; given food etc. They will use the marriage to create bonds with other ethnic groups to make sure the inca empire was getting larger. When spaniards came, they reported 10 panaqas this was a problem because there are 13.
