Book of durrow: possibly matthew, fluid knots as a border around the figure, and on the coat of the figure, schematic and frontal face stares out at the viewer, tiny feet in a contrasting profile. Various views to make the figure detailed: rounded shoulders, no ground line or background, just the figure. Used to highlight the figure as earthly. Design made on the back of vellum (animal skin) and a candle was placed (cid:374)ear to (cid:373)ake it appear o(cid:374) the fro(cid:374)t so that li(cid:374)es do(cid:374)(cid:859)t appear o(cid:374) the front. Shows skilled knowledge of pigments available to the artist.
