Convection: key to atmospheric motion low pressure is left behind. If you build up with heat the pressure in a closed space and you open the door and there is lower pressure outside, you would notice a movement of air from inside the room to outside the room. Horizontal pressure gradients - lines of equal pressure are called isobar. What would be p1? the higher pressure always. When you tighten the isobars, you increase the gradient so the pressure should go up. strong winds. There is a gradient from the high to the low. If there was a consistent surfaced globe at exactly 90 degrees you would get preferential heating at the equator. This sets up pressure gradients and large surplus cells at the equator and the poles have the deficits. The system is set up to neutralize or equilabrate the gradients. The coriolis force starts to mess with our system that we understand without complexities.
