Document Summary

Textbook and cds are available on the library website. People many years ago used to only hear an hour or 2 of music per week at church. 3 main/major categories that you can generally put all music into: classical music- played by professionals. String quartet, orchestra music, flute, cello, solo piano, violin, etc. Search classical music or look in the record store for classical. Classical really refers to a particular period of time- european art music between. 1750 and 1825- the classical period- one of the shortest periods that we identify in the history of art music. Music was developed or created among a system of patronage- means someone is paying for it- could be composers that are full time employees of a church, etc. Church is responsible for a lot of what music is today. Patronage could also be aristocracy/royals- job of ppl was to produce music for the presence of royalty.
