Resistant in going back to a private, domestic role afterwards. Civil rights movement: african and native american peoples fought to be considered equal under the law. 1960 bill of rights, a statue passed by the federal government, only applied to federal laws, not an entrenched bill of rights. It was made to ensure all federally passed statutes uphold this bill. Did not have as big of an impact on canadian law as the charter because it was passed as an ordinary statute. The courts treated the statute as an interpretive statute during litigation and did not see it as constitutional law.
