It uses up the money that could be used for agriculture, food, schools, better environment instead of spending it on wars. Most of these countries have come to power with the strong army behind it. When the west came in with armies and technologies, it made big prints all over that region. Rise of islam was in the hands of the turks. Ottoman history- each age had its own layer, philosopher, interpretation. What are the sources of islamic clock and where do you get them from: first important source the holy quran : what is important is how you interpret it.
