Document Summary
C. p snow the two cultures and the scientific revolution. Argued that we were living in a world dominated by 2 cultures who didn"t talk to each other- on one hand there were the scientists on the other hand were the humanists. Today, the world looks contrary to what c. p snow predicted. Rather there is an increasing recognition that we have to talk to each other and it is assumed that we should. This is a good thing, but some downsides to it. One good thing is that reason matters, it is a good thing. We can make sense of the world of our self in the world and the reason in it. We can make and unmake our world using reason. Blank state idea; we are blank slates. Dualism; the mind is separate from the body. Homunculus; the little man idea that there had to be one central figure in the brain pulling levers.
