82 views1 pages

Document Summary

5 skandhas are what we observe when we refer to ourselves. When you are angry let"s say, that means there is a combination of these, feeling of pain, physical body is hurt etc. Other than these five things, there is nothing else we can explain/perceive. All these skandhas are impermanent, there is no self. Physicality is impermanent, new cells, bones etc. Feelings are impermanent, you don"t feel something same that you have felt before, it"s gone. Perception is impermanent, now you are seeing some light, and a moment later it"s gone. Your volitions, habits, intentions are impermanent, want a cigarette, after you don"t. Your consciousness is impermanent, it"s gone when you are asleep. There is no more to a person than the five skandhas. If there is nothing permanent about us, then there is no self. Annihilation view (not the same from a moment ago)
