Measure of central tendency= what is common, typical or usual in the population, they tend to be in the middle/center of a distribution/data. What is important, is to know is not common by finding out what is common of typical. Summary statistic: summarize the range (differences) of responses, rather focuses on one. There are 3 measure of central tendency: mode, median, mean. Mode: most common response, is the only measure of central tendency which can be used for nominal level data only, but it can also be used for ordinal or interval level data. Bimodal: two most frequent response that is equal. The mode is the most frequent there can only be one mode. Nomothetic: look a few number of factors among a board number of people or settings mostly used in sociology statistics, can infer into a large population, does not look at many factors, opposite from ideographic.
