Population: entire group of individuals which you want information from. Sample: part of a population studied to gather information. Simple random sample (srs): a sample which has been chosen in a way which makes sure that all individuals and groups have an equal likelihood of being chosen. Over/undercoverage: when some groups are over or underrepresented in the sample. Nonresponse: when an individual can"t respond or won"t cooperate. Voluntary response samples: sample subjects (respondents) choose/volunteer themselves. Qualitative data: cannot be measured on a numerical scale, only classified into categories. Class: a category into which qualitative data is classified. Class frequency: number of observations which fall into a particular class. Class relative frequency: class frequency divided by total observations in data set. Class percentage: class relative frequency multiplied by 100% Cumulative relative frequency: sum off all relative frequencies up to that class. Cumulative frequency: sum off all frequencies up to that class.
