Document Summary
Lipid is a major nutrient in certain species such as rainbow trout and atlantic salmon. Mostly in norway because they have quota and need to condense their feed. Creating a fish with very high fat content. Very expensive ingredient because less are produced each year. Industry is growing, so more people want the ingredient = increase in price. When there is an energy demand, prices of all oil sources increase. Can be increased very dramatically in a short time. Only high quality starter feed will have more fish meal and fish oil. Fish oil is the main source of dha (enrich the fish with epa and dha) Lipophilic bile acid aid in lipid digestion. A reflection of what the animal is consuming. Fat contains more sfa = higher mp. Oil contains more usfa = lower mp. Usfa have more double bonds = kinks = cannot pack densely. More usfa = moving and changing shape constantly.
