Thought animals had reason simple function of memory and experience. Reason was downgraded to a simple function. Morality is based on feeling and sympathy not reason. Blackness of skin does not give humans to right to exploitation, neither does the number of legs. Worry about the consequences on people from hurting animals. Developed bentham"s ideas into the philosophy of. Utilitarian approach but opposes most animal use. Agree with animal use were raised with a good life and painless death. Father of animal rights (not right) because his philosophy is a utilitarian. Rights is sometimes used to meet moral status. Argued that animals are all subject of a life and therefore have inherent value . Can not use animals by somebody else. Killing is the greatest harm by deprivation.
