Continuously receives info for both inside and outside of the body. Sends commands to the body to maintain systems and organs as well as respond to the environment. The relative size of the brain of different species will be different but the relative position of different portions are similar. Have insertions between cerebral hemisphere forming venous sinus. Collects most of the blood and csf from the brain. Space between arachnoid and pia mater that is filled with csf. Capillaries of specialized areas of the pia mater. Filled two lateral ventricles, third and fourth ventricles (they are interconnected) Goes from lateral ventricles to the third then to the fourth. Diffuses from fourth ventricle into the subarachnoid space and circulates around the brain and sc. It is continuously being formed, drains off into the venous sinus via the arachnoid villus to return to the blood circulation, relieving pressure so that the organs do not get compressed and damaged.
