Membership exclusively through your father"s line or your mother"s line: patrilineal descent: membership traced through father"s line. Woman remains in her father"s group after marriage authority in household rests with men. 15% of world"s cultures children belong to their mother"s family. Tahltan, navajo found where women"s value is highly valued foragers, horticulturalists, some pastoralists, and some small scale farmers.
