Anth*2660 contemporary native people of canada- lecture notes. A very fluid, constantly changing form of communication. We must assume that they change in regular predictable patterns. Indo-european language transitioning: good economic (could grow food), and sustainable conditions in the original area, eventually they left this area spread to many areas of the world. Linguistic congestion is the result of population growth: if you have conditions that are favourable for pop growth then it leads to more separate languages. Good conditions -> greater food supplies -> more ppl -> more ppl exploring: northern areas, population growth is less. Environments have a carrying capacity: once it is pushed the population will not be able to be sustained, depends on its available resources.
