Anthropology is the study of human cultures through past, present, and across time and space. Definitions of anth change significantly over time: the discipline is always aware of the potential for abuse and exploitation and constantly changing because of this, constantly questioning assumptions and ideas. Social or cultural evolution herbert spencer, lh morgan, karl marx. Found through empiricism: what we could know through seeing and observing. All truthful knowledge is found through observation: very visual and eccentric way of looking at the world, this has to do with anthropology because anth at this time wanted to consider itself as a science. Replicability: anthropologist can"t uphold this because science can observe the same phenomena and produce the same results where anthropology can not.
