Kinship has a linguistic aspect to it, how many words do you have for mom, dad, aunt, uncle, etc: these words we use are also associated with status. Religion and kinship is still a large issue: when when passes on their stuff passed on to their children, many children are actually pushed into religion, not left to choose.
