Sir hans sloane: one of the great collectors, at his death in 1753, had a natural history collection that was enormous which he arranged and catalogued. Map out significant individuals which can give outline for writing the essay answer: video. Effectively founding father of natural history museum. Sloane worked in jamaica as a physician, and in particular collected the histories of the slaves. Sloane was man of his time: expansion and entrepreneurship. Although he was sympathetic to the enslaved africans, he was also a spectator and made money from those he engaged with. Record of what grew somewhere in the past (jamaica 300 years ago: this material collected in 18th/19th c. for natural history does have implications on colonialism (particularly british), american imperialism and aspirations, and politics. Example of chocolate from video sloane transformation of cocoa into chocolate fostering an interest in turn, the taking of those resources for economic benefit.
