Document Summary
Interspecific interactions: interactions between individuals of two different species. Intraspecific interactions: interactions between two individuals of the same species. Predation: a relationship in which one living organism serves as the food source of another organism that it kills. Parasitism: a relationship between two species in which one benefits and the other is harmed but not killed directly. Competition: any interaction that is mutually detrimental to both participants, occurring between species that share limited resources. Commensalism: relationship between two species that is beneficial to one, but neutral. Amensalism: relationship between two species in which one is inhibited or harmed, or of no benefit to the other while the other is unaffected. Neutralism: an interaction between individuals of two different species in which neither benefits. Co-evolution: a reciprocal evolutionary interaction between two or more species. Co-evolutionary arms race: species interactions in which all members are actively changing through evolution, with each adaptation leading to a counter-adaptation.
