Argos was important to the worship of hera. According to myth, hera and poseidon competed for affection from people of argos. King of argos, phoroneus, selects hera to be the worshipped. Poseidon dries up the river in their region out of anger. Explains the etiological idea that they have dry river beds. He goes to delphi and asks a question about the future and children. King acrisius has one child, a daughter, which is a disaster. Oracle gives him bad news, says, you will have an heir through your daughter. She will have a son and you will be killed by your daughters son. He tries to find means in which he can prevent the fate that"s laid out in front of him. No mortal man is able to get to the top of the tower, but of course she is visited by a god who visits from above zeus.
