CIS 1500 Lecture Notes - Binary File, Spaghetti Code
Document Summary
Compiler takes higher level language written by human, converts it into a binary file that the computer can read. Can use command line programming to access deeper level of files in the computer. Human brains can multitask very well (eg: heart beats, lungs breathe, brain monitors all simultaneously) Computers cannot multitask unless they have multiple processors. Must be very rigorous when defining the set of rules a computer can use to carry out a task. Eg, program to count the words in a sentence(must discern spaces, apostrophes, all other punctuation sentence structures) Algorithms are translated into code using programming languages. Code is compiled into binary executables that the computer carries out. Structured (start to finish follow start to finish) Must follow strict syntax of the langauge being written in. There is no one perfect program to solve all problems. Applications should be very specific to one or a set of problems.
