London felt that all humans contained within themselves an animalistic nature. Buck"s new world is ruled by darwinian meritocracy whereas in the old world, Buck achieved power through bloodline lineage and primogeniture. Fear that the masses had too much power and this has to be diluted like how we see with the rise of donald trump and the uninformed, highly vocal masses facilitating his rise to power. How do we reconcile domination with democracy two things that seem contradictory. Labour becomes connected to hierarchy too seemingly in the novel. Theme of mastery amongst all the novels we"ve read so far creating individualism. Curly, a female dog, is the first dog to be killed. She has a custom to be helpless and over-exaggerated feminine qualities. She brings love to the dogs though where no other character has really given them love but this love isn"t given a positive valence it"s superficial.
