Fascia connect muscle to muscle (doesn"t connect to bone) All of these transmit movement across a joint; transmit forces generated by the contracting muscle: cause movement of a joint, support biomechanical alignment of joint, provide support and alignment. Positional; you want to make sure the joint is stable. Proprioception; your awareness of self in space: periarticular ligaments. Usually deal with type 1 and 2 in tendon injuries. Non-collagen components: cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (comp) Facilitating assembly of collagen is one of the main things this compound is doing. Abundant when horse is young and during growth of the dft (digital exor tendon) Participates in binding of tropocollagen; low levels of comp you have okay formation of pro- collagen but have trouble assembling collagen brils which contributes to declined tensional strength. Important to load the tissue (let them run around) to maximize levels: proteoglycans.
