Slum Cities – Slums in Mumbai and Rio de Janeiro  There are 1 billion squatters in the world, and counting A Shifting World  India – population 1.1 billion and growing, Mumbai holds 10 million people, slums cover 6% of land but hold 60% of people (6 million) 2  Datavi – biggest slum in Asia, 1 million of people spread over 2km o 1 toilet for every 400 people o Commerce thrives, most of the industry focuses on getting the most off of what they have (form patching and repairing shoes, and recycling everything and anything)  People who are living on whatever land they can find. Slum dwellers have no legal title to the land so they live in constant fear  Slums in central Mumbai are now on some of the most valuable land in India  Entrepreneurs can have land for free if they promise to build slums for people that they force out  Goal to get Mumbai sl
