May lead to an increase in sex: more time, more freedom, more privacy, no fear of pregnancy. Empty nest: launching: when children leave home, delayed launching = decreased satisfaction. The relationship with their children changes as the children move from adolescence into young adulthood. Now that the pair is alone: must * their couple system as a dyad, or pair, rather than as part of a larger family.
