The idea is the contrast between normal and abnormal: depends on the general census and cultural standards. Every culture around the world believes that there is a standard of behaviour: an abnormal and a normal, not all cultures believe that the same things are normal. Leading a normal life = leading a functional life: helps to prevent dysfunction in society, this does not mean you are always normal. Bit of sadness in lie is health and normal: too much sadness becomes depression and is abnormal, also applies to energy (adhd) There is no consensus as to why people are abnormal. Some mental disorders have been proven to be directly linked with crime. Some abnormal people take it to another level: rapists, child molesters. Freud: the influence on sex and mental life, sex is the foundation of life. Ego o: reality, consequences, safety, punishment. Final level of the psyche o: morality.
