Egg begins to deteriorate after release so ideal time is 4-20 hours after ovulation. Sperm most active within 48 hours of ejaculation, however, in ideal conditions, sperm can survive up to 5 days. Infertility diagnosed after failing to conceive for 1 year. Male: 30% of cases male related, sperm issues, disease. Female: ovulation issues, reproductive tract issues, endometriosis. Child-less vs. child-free: child-less: couple wants children and cannot, child-free: couple"s choice of not wanting children. In vitro fertilization: egg production stimulated by hormone therapy, eggs retrieved from ovary, sperm sample provided, eggs and sperm combined to allow fertilization, fertilized eggs introduced into uterus. Other means of having children: adoption, surrogate mother. Pregnancy final note: abortion: termination of pregnancy, miscarriage: most common in 1st trimester, premature delivery, before 37 weeks gestational age, 24 weeks is viability, at 35 weeks baby can usually breathe on their own.
