Sexual coercion includes any sexual activity between an adult and a child. All sexual relations with children are considered coercive because they are below the legal age of consent. The term rape has been replaced by sexual assault in the canadian. Criminal code, but is still used by the american justice system. In canada there are 3 levels of sexual assault: level 1 any form of sexual activity forced upon a person (kissing, touching, oral sex, anal/vaginal intercourse). Involves minor physical injury or no injury to victim and perpetrator can be punished by up to. Can be punishable by up to 14 years in prison: level 3 a sexual assault that wounds, maims, or disfigures the victim, or endangers their life. Can be punishable by up to life in prison. No statute of limitations - a victim can go to the police years after an assault has occurred and charges can still be laid.
