Much of this rapid growth, (90% of population growth) is in the periphery. In the semi-periphery, population growth is decreasing (not going in reverse, but just not as fast as periphery) In the core countries, low or no population growth. Strong correlation between where people live and where natural resources are. Do not expect to nd people and agriculture in places that are too dry. (desert) Do not expect to nd people in places too wet. (tropical rainforest) Do not expect to nd people in places that are too cold. (polar desert) People live there, but environments have changed over years and the area is poor for agriculture. Modern technology possible to use modern technology to live in harsh environments. (air conditioning in hot areas, heat in cold area). Technology allows us to irrigate, we can use fertilizers and chemical in such conditions.
