As infiltration rates decrease, run off rates increase. Example: parking lots have low infiltration (impervious surface) = immediate run off. Example: fields have high infiltration = slower run off. Measuring the amount of water is about volume. Hydrograph: measure of water over a period of time. Hydrographs require input (i. e. rainfall), units per discharge, and units per time.
