Castilians and portuguese fights over the canaries islands really expensive made them go bankrupt. 1488 > bartholomew dais rounds the cape of good hope. Vasco da gama > 1487 bartholomew diaz rounds capre of good hope. 1497- 99 circumnavigates africa arrives in calicut india. 1505- 1515 portuguese spice imports quadruple venetian imports. Portuguese establish monopoly on pepper trade and overseas empire in asia. Crown develops departments known as the casa.
