Environmentalism andASilent Spring Environmentalism started in 1960. It was an intellectual movement. The rate at which nature was absued was increased. Around the world, nature has become cheaper by dumping the wastes. Adaption of monoculture also effects environmentalism. Industrialisation and commercialisation became global. Exploitation made world global. Industrialisation changed the nature before. In 1876, john Ruskin launches a campaign to prevent the extension of the rail road as they destroy the nature. In 1889, carpenter wrote about industrial tribes. Ruskin, Carpenter tried to establish environmental societies. Coal smoke abatement society is a force which asked government to introduce laws to reduce the pollution. Germany environmentalist began by the end of the 19 century. Industrialisation attacked Germany by destructing the forests, converted peasants to farmers. Germans drank goat milk. Scientific conservatism is a movement to control the industrialism and make people aware of the nature, environment. United States has a development of forestry. Forest ReserveAct in U.S. is to establish the natural forests. The development of new science called ecology was seen in Germany. At first, ecology was limited to plants, later it extended to animals. Ecology became well developed inAmerica. London Conference was the first international conference about environmentalism to control the hunting of wild animals in SouthAfrica. Society for the Preservation of the Fauna of the Empire. It establishes seasons. You should have license for hunting. Mahatma Gandhi and the voluntary simplicity: Gandhi found out the effects of industrialisation. He viewed India as European India. The textile industry was destroyed by the Europeans which is the traditional industry in India, used to make clothes. The villages and streets will be free of dust, will be accessible to everyone. Gandhi felt that there were limits to industrialisation. For Gandhi, the blood of the villagers was the cement to build the cities. Interwar period Catastrophic death rates was a consequence of Industrialisation. At the basis, Marxism was based on faith on technology. Soviet Union was intitially headed by Lenin. He was a biologist, lover of nature. Lenin period was a biological period as there was a development in parks, gardens. In 1923, there was a forest cold science which prevents deforestration. Lenin pushed the industrialisation forward. After 1924, Stalin became the ruler of Soviet Union. They attacked Marxist community. He sees industrialisation as favour. Stalin introduces his 5 year plans. The idea is to up the industrialisation using some resources. Lands were protected by Lenin by
