Traditional christian history of british colonies begins with puritanism as the majority of them moved from england to north america in the early 17th century to create the godly society. There were supposed to be 15 colonies settled primarily by the british in north. 1607 in virginia was the first full colony of settlement, they were mainly anglican. The second english colony and the most famous that settled by accident at. Plymouth off cape cod in 1620, it was created specifically for religious purposes, they were supposed to end up in virginia but they believe god placed them in. Plymouth for a reason so they built the city on the hill , god and the world in this colony were not separate. In 1630, massachusetts bay colony in boston was founded. Every colony but virginia shared the idea of purity and covenant" (covenant is based on the old testament)
