France - early adopter, light up parks, the eiffel tower, etc. getting the name "the city of light" Everybody deserved electric light - very democratic in comparison to britain. Getting electricity to work was a national challenge. Major european cities light up one by one transforming the night. People/stores had the ability to stay out and open later - productivity as a whole is boosted.
