Education is focused on increasing knowledge, deal with complexities and critically analyse situations. Should result in better financial performance for the operation. Need to evaluate employees on their ability to meet job standards and procedures. Every operation has their own particular methods and procedures. New equipment, methods, procedures may require an updating of skills and abilities. Learning how to perform the job duties of another job position would require cross-training: expansion of skill set, relief of boredom through new work tasks. A clear description of how training will occur. A method for teaching specific employees the skills needed to do the job properly, meeting standards and procedures established. Identifying the skills, tasks, and behaviours to be developed through training. Approaches to training: on-the-job training vs off-the-job training, structured vs unstructured. Training methods: lecture/demonstration, role playing, seminars.
