Food choices: as illustrated by the food choice process model, food choices are strongly influenced by events & experiences beginning early in life & continuing throughout the life course. Employment status: work life can influence food choices in many ways. & personal resources (i. e. planning & cooking skills: when work life stress was higher, outcome was less healthful food environment overall, exemplified by fewer family meals & more frequent consumption of fast foods & sugar sweetened beverages. Time: purchasing & preparing healthy diet can be time-intensive process for households that do(cid:374)"t use commercially prepared foods. If labor costs are not included, the real cost of food for low-income households is severely underestimated.
