The behaviour of computer viruses and biological viruses is analogous. Concept of host range : each species of virus infects paricular group of host species, known as the host range. Some examples of broad host range viruses rabies, ebola, west nile. Some examples of narrow host range viruses hiv: most viruses have a narrow host range. Anatomy of a typical (enveloped virus) o: envelope composed of plasma membrane. Special case: viroid: there are extremely simple viruses: there is no protecive capsid. Just rna: usually rna molecules that infect plants, some have catalyic acivity. How are viruses classiied: living organisms are classiied by the relatedness of their genes. Only closely related viruses can be characterized this way.
