Monday september 10 t h lecture two. Loss of chlorophyll makes the tissue look yellow. You can also see reding and purpling of the tissue, but yellow is the most common. Most commonly caused by viruses, but also can be caused by fungi and bacteria: necrosis: death of tissue when the tissue dies, it changes of color. Each lesion is where and infection has started, the lesions grow until they start to merge together. Grey zone between lesion and blight: rot: the tissue starts to lose cohesion and starts to disintegrate; the term is usually used for thicker and bulkier stem tissues such as fruits, canker: necrosis located in the stem. Essentially a lesion on the stem, brownish and blackish in color, with a sunken down appearance. In the case of the microorganisms, there can be plenty of water in the soil, but this will not help because the microorganism is blocking the flow of the water into the plant.
