Top three global risk factors for men and woman 2016 :gbd men: smoking, high systolic blood pressure, low birthweight and short gestation. Women: high systolic blood pressure, high bmi, high fasting plasma glucose. A measure of burden of disease, one daly equals one year of healthy life lost due to premature death and time lived with illness, disease or injury. Age standardisation allows comparison of incidence rate between populations with different age structures. Steps of clinical nutrition approach : ncp model : nutrition care process 1. Screening/ referral: nutrition assessment, nutrition diagnosis, nutrition intervention plan, provide counselling, monitoring/evaluate indicators and modify plan. Steps 1 & 2: gathering and using information. Types of information collected step 1 and 2. Abcd of nutritional assessment - anthropometry/ physical findings. Calculation of bmi and comparison to standards. References tables for weight, height, waist circumference. Need to understand the methods basic method: glucose measurement using glucometers.
