Everything has a cause including our choices in this providential universe created by an intelligible god: universe is a rational place, so whoever created that universe must be rational, human actions also have causes. What makes us free is that we have rationality, which allows us to weigh options and choose in accordance with what we desire and to a avoid what is undesirable. The same event, object in the world, can be cognized differently depending on if we use sense of sight, touch, etc. Either there is freedom and god does not know everything beforehand, or god knows everything beforehand and there is no freedom.
