Socrates is the master, and educates plato among others. Aristophanes (comedic poet), war between poet and philosopher in ancient greece, who has the ultimate source of wisdom. Homer importance to ancient greeks like the bible is too western civilization. Socrates was always considered with who he was addressing, not all people could be persuaded by rational arguments. Socrates would butt heads with the sophist, socrates believed in objective truth were sophists were concerned with persuasion by word. Socrates only engages with educated people, in public (never women or labourers) Socrates was showing people up with his knowledge (annoying reputation, pest) Do not know what the accusers are saying. Socrates begins by saying all i can speak is the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth. Not only a public speech but one of plato"s first dialogues. Socrates charged with: not believing in the gods of the city (polis), corrupting the youth.
