Abraham maslow"s hierarchy of needs: people are motivated by more than monetary rewards, developed a theory of motivation based on 5 needs, 1. Basic needs that human beings need: 2. Safety free from physical and emotional harm. Love/belonging affection and relations with other: 4. Tend to want to have a high evaluation of ourselves. Occurs when all other needs are satisfied: hierarchy is not fixed, needs do not have to be completely satisfied, needs may be unconscious, not all behaviour determined by basic needs. Theory x : conventional conception of management, individuals are fundamentally lazy, dislike responsibility and prefer to be led, self-centred, resistant to change, gullible, not very bright. If that"s how you treat your employees, that"s what you get. Theory y : work is as natural as play or rest, control and punishment not only want to motivate, humans also seek responsibility, people are imaginative and creative.
