47 views2 pages

Document Summary

Every few weeks we will be tested on how well we know the placement of the countries in africa. Does not count for marks, just to get us to learn the map of africa. Very westernized portrayal of africa, not stereotypical, this story could take place anywhere in the world. Easy to relate to in western context. Very contrasting to the other story this week. This story shows that you cannot generalize about africa. Increasing commonality of cell phones in urban africa. Okadas (motorbikes) clog up the street in some african cities but not in others. The concept of the african big man who does things for people and gets support in return. A story that is compelling, tragic and of uncertain veracity. The uncertain and sometimes hazardous political situation in a number of different countries. Africa is a place to escape from.
