Bill 63 (union national, 1969): permitted immigrants to go to english schools in. Many quebecois upset because they were wanting to promote the french language but new people to quebec were choosing english they saw this bill as removing incentive to promote the french language. Bill 22 (liberals, 1974): french sole language of quebec reversing much of what was contained in bill 66, promoting that quebec was just a french society. Trudeau: bourassa a hot dog eater supposed to be an insult. Western alienation rise in oil prices (good for west) Result: western canada not represented in trudeau caucus (every member of parliament who is elected from the legislature) / cabinet western canada is very upset with the liberal government so did not elect any liberals. Indienous people and constitutional politics totally excluded from federal governments constitutional agenda. Trudeau 1969 white paper: integrationist/ assimilationist trying to remove distinctions between aboriginals from the rest of canadians.
