PSYC 1000 Lecture Notes - Lecture 2: Trisomy, Twin, Egg Cell
Document Summary
This (cid:373)odule is a(cid:271)out : how human behaviour is influenced by genetic factors, how has evolution played a role in modern-day human behaviour. Humans have aprox 20 000 to 25 000 genes distributed across 23 pairs of chromosomes, half from mother, half from father: trisomy: an extra chromosome is present, altering the makeup and phenotype of the person. Behavioural genomics: the molecular approach: behavioural genomics: is the study of dna and the ways in which specific genes are related to behaviour. Learning: ability: a statistic expressed as a number between 0 and 1 that represents the degree to which genetic differences between individuals contribute to individual differences in a behaviour or trait found in population. Gene expression and behaviour: epigenetic: the study of changes in gene expression that occur as a result of experience and that do not alter the genetic code.
