Neuron: the neuron is a cell in the body. Dendrites: antennas that gather information from other neurons and other cells in the body. Information travels through the axon to go to another neuron. Myelin sheath: helps the communication travel more quickly from neuron to neuron with an electrical impulse, grabs onto the axons to speed up the transmission of the information, not all neurons have myelin sheaths. Electrical impulse that begins in the cell body and makes its way from neuron to neuron. 70mv resting potential sodium floods in +35mv (depolarization) back just bellow the resting potential and returns to the resting potential: all or none law. Deactivation: enzyme deactivation, binding to auto-receptors, passively drift out of the synaptic gap, reuptake. Gaba: makes the action potential less likely, inhibits the glutamine"s effect.
