Experimenters thought people who had gone through therapy prior to marriage would have less arguments. Quasi-experiment people sign up for the study and are not randomly assigned. Independent variable: type of couple (group counseling vs. no group counseling) Dependent variable: # of ights reported in 1st year of marriage raio scale. Median: 1, 4, 5, 10 4+5/2= 4. 5. Median: 0, 3, 5, 6, 6 5. The larger the standard deviaion, the more individual diferences there are. If there is a small standard deviaion, you can likely trust your mean. The people that signed up for the counseling may have a previous history of conlict confounding variable.
