Document Summary
Defining conflict: a conflict is a situation in which people have incompatible goals, interest or principles, conflict is inevitable. Being able to manage conflict is a major life skill. Sources of conflict: competition for limited resources, role conflict (competing demands, competing work and family demands, personality clashes and drama, bullies in the workplace. Incivility and rudeness: cross-generational conflict (working with one who is older than you and doesn"t understand the new things in the world that you do) Tips for giving feedback: balance the feedback you give to have a mix of positives and strengths, as well as negatives and areas for improvements, give feedback that is focused on the behavior, not the person. If possible, support your feedback with evidence from observations: be supportive. Remember that feedback is to help develop the receiver: focus on the individual. Try not to compare them to anyone else: consider the time and place.
