Prejudice: prejudice is a negative attitude toward a socially defined group and toward any person perceived to be a member of that group (ashmore, 1970) If you slow down during the test, it gives you an error message. End up pairing negative words with black faces much faster than we pair negative words with white faces. Prejudice is still a dominant force in intergroup relations. In group favouritism (tajfel et al. , 1971) even if you only have minimal info on your in group. Intergroup dynamics, when groups come together they have to compete with each other for resources: when there are limited resources, people tend to dislike the group they"re competing with. Phase 1: 2 groups were created: rattlers & eagles (each developed an identity, becoming members of a cohesive group)
