Habituation measuring if the infant can distinguish between 2 stimuli, if they show boredom, Senses established aside from vision ( least developed) colour differentials, recognize shapes they recognize the shape, it takes 16 times to truly recognize the stimulus. 20/800 at birth 20/100 by 6 months. Disappears at 2 months and comes back at 6 months. Better than telling the difference than adults till about 1. Triple birth weight and double in weight (maturation) Cephalocaudal principle growth from top to bottom head first than neck ect Proximodistal principle - growth from the core first. Reflexes - babinski reflex stroke a babies foot, their tops will fan out if you do that to an older person, their tops curl. Diet ( malnourished during development, the organs may suffer) Physical touch ( baby massage- helps with brain development) Enriched environments ( better for development- more connections within the brain)
